Located in Florida's Panhandle, Destin has a rich historical heritage dating back to American Indian inhabitants. Known as the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village," Destin's crystal clear waters were voted "safest in the country" and list among the top ten in the country. Destin is devoted to carefully and proactively balancing the quality of life for residents and visitors, while preserving its rich heritage and environment. &
Recreational opportunities include golf, tennis, watersports, diving and snorkeling, fishing and sunbathing. Fishing off of the beach and jetties yields catches of Whiting, Pompano and Mackerel, while snorkeling in the same locations yields views of beautiful tropical fish and great shell-collecting. Destin's white beaches and emerald waters draw visitors from around the world.
Destin is also home to several unique treasures. Timber Hole, a submerged petrified forest brimming with lobsters, sponges and sea squirts, offers unique explorations for divers, as do sunken luxury liners, ships, barges, railroad box cars and even airplanes. In addition, the golf courses in the Destin area rank among the most challenging in the country.
