Miami

Many resorts dot the map of Miami, from Bal Harbour down to the famous South Beach. Vacationers will enjoy the exciting nightlife, unique cultural enclaves and diverse population that make Miami a world-famous vacation getaway.

For visitors torn between "getting away from it all" and "being a part of it all," Miami offers the best of both worlds, with a blend of 21st century and Old-World architecture, the Miami Dolphins pro footbal team, family-friendly attractions, leisurely sunbathing and colorful big-city culture.

Miami Beach is divided into two sections. To the north you will find many large hotels right on the beach and to the south is Miami Beach's famous Art Deco district, South Beach. Visitors from all over the world flock to this area year-round to enjoy fascinating nightlife, the beach and shopping in the area's chic shops and galleries. Although South Beach's reputation stems from its "good time" atmosphere it also carries its weight in cultural activities.

Downtown Miami has a handful of landmarks and museums, such as the Historical Museum of Southern Florida and the Gusman Center for Performing Arts. Walk along Biscayne Bay where you'll find a memorial located in Bayfront Park dedicated to the astronauts of the Challenger Space shuttle. In addition, enjoy the Bayside Marketplace, a lively Bahamian-style shopping area.

Just off Dade Boulevard, in the middle of Miami Beach, the Bass Museum of Art is part of the city's plan to create a "cultural campus" between 21st and 23rd Street. Other interesting sites to visit while in the area are the Ziff Jewish Museum of Florida, the Holocaust Memorial and the Jackie Gleason Theater of Performing Arts.
