St. Augustine

St. Augustine, "America's Oldest City," attracts millions of visitors annually. Steeped in history, this town has many fascinating stories, historic sites and museums to discover. Visit the famous fort, Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fort in the US. After visiting the Castillo, take a slow meander down St. George Street, where you will find attractions such as the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse and the Plaza de la Constitucion, a broad plaza laid out as a parade ground by Governor Mendez de Canzo about 1600.

Amid the history of this quaint street there is a plethora of hand-made craft boutiques, antique shops, souvenirs shops, and restaurants. Perhaps one of St. Augustine's most sought-after attractions is the "Fountain of Youth." According to history the land that houses this world famous attraction is the exact location that Ponce de Leon, the Spanish explorer, landed on April 2, 1513 to begin his quest for the "Fountain of Youth" and take possession of the "New World" for the King of Spain.

Catch the Old Town Trolley Tour sightseeing train, featuring 20 stops, including the Lightner Museum, Ripley's "Believe it or Not", Flagler College, St. Augustine's Oldest House, the Old Jail, Florida Heritage Museum, and much, much more. Search for old spirits with the Ghost Tours of St. Augustine offering four types of ghoulish tours nightly.
