West Palm Beach, a more affordable alternative to Palm Beach, stands out as one of Florida's most popular travel destinations. A stone's throw away from Palm Beach (divided by the intracoastal waterway), West Palm Beach is the center of a cultural explosion.
A main attraction to the area is its exciting nightlife. One of the popular nighttime hotspots is the Clematis Street Retail and Entertainment District, a vibrant area lined with trendy nightclubs, bars, boutiques, fine restaurants, arts & crafts vendors and live entertainment. West Palm Beach has plenty to do by day as well.
Families will enjoy spending the day at the South Florida Science Museum or Lion Country Safari, a cageless zoo located about twenty miles west of West Palm Beach. Beachcombers will love the beaches located across the intracoastal waterway where one can enjoy fishing, watersports or just relaxing in the sun.
Prominent in the art world, The Norton Museum of Art is world-famous for its permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, as well as its American galleries containing works by Jackson Pollock, Georgia O'Keeffe and Edward Hopper.
Golf enthusiasts will not be disappointed. Located in what's acknowledged as "Florida's Golf Capital," Palm Beach County is home to lavish world-renowned resorts that feature demanding courses, many with on-site pro instructors. Visitors to the area will also find plenty of public and semi-private courses such as Emerald Dunes designed by Tom Fazio.
